The Institute of traditional Chinese Medicine of Henan University was established in 2005 and is composed of teachers engaged in traditional Chinese medicine research in the School of Pharmacy of Henan University. There are four laboratories: processing and preparation of traditional Chinese medicine, analysis and metabolism of traditional Chinese medicine, pharmacology and toxicology of traditional Chinese medicine, and new drugs of traditional Chinese medicine. The main research directions are: under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine theory and by means of modern science and technology, engaged in the cultivation of traditional Chinese medicine, processing and preparation of traditional Chinese medicine, quality evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine, efficacy and toxicology evaluation, research on new drugs and health products of traditional Chinese medicine.
At present, there are 13 researchers in the Institute of traditional Chinese Medicine, including 3 professors, 3 associate professors, 4 doctoral degrees, 4 master's degrees and 20 postgraduates. The College of Pharmacy of Henan University has four undergraduate majors of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical preparation, traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmaceutical Economics, with a four-year academic system. It has seven rights to grant master's degrees, including pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine, two first-level disciplines, and six master's degrees in pharmacy, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, microbiology and biochemical pharmacy. There are more than 1000 key undergraduate students and 90 graduate students. The Institute of traditional Chinese Medicine has professionals in preparation, analysis, pharmacology, cultivation, plant classification and so on; in hardware, it is equipped with a series of high-tech scientific research equipment, such as high performance liquid chromatograph, high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, dual-wavelength TLC scanner, infrared spectrometer, ultraviolet spectrophotometer, one-step granulator, pressing machine, coating machine, dropping pill machine and so on.
The Institute emphasizes the combination of basic research and applied research. On the one hand, it pays attention to the frontier research of disciplines and the cultivation of high-quality talents, on the other hand, it attaches importance to applied research such as the research and development of new drugs of traditional Chinese medicine, so as to serve national and local construction and economic development. In recent years, he has completed more than 20 new drug research projects and undertaken a number of provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. He has published more than 80 papers and won a number of provincial and ministerial awards for scientific and technological achievements. It has established long-term and extensive cooperative relations with Hong Kong Baptist University, China Academy of traditional Chinese Medicine, Liaoning University of traditional Chinese Medicine, Henan Research Institute of traditional Chinese Medicine, Essen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Luoyang Chundu Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Luoyang Jun Mountain Pharmaceutical Group, Xinyi Pharmaceutical Group, Taiyuan Qianhui Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Nanzhao Hualong Xin Catkin Development Co., Ltd. And other scientific research institutes and pharmaceutical enterprises.
